We’re pleased to share the latest renders and architectural concepts for Tarafo Bay, a development inspired by the distinctive character and natural beauty of Boa Vista.

Rooted in the island’s identity, the design brings together local architectural influences, lush greenery, and the rhythm of the ocean. The result is a seamless relationship between nature and built form. Natural materials such as wood, stone, and soft, tactile finishes are integrated throughout, reinforcing a strong connection to the environment and celebrating the island’s natural beauty.

Designed Around Nature and Experience

The design continues to place people and nature at the centre of every decision. Open layouts and carefully considered viewpoints ensure that each space remains closely connected to the surrounding landscape. From landscaped communal areas to ocean-facing terraces, the architecture is designed to encourage everyday interaction with the outdoors. Rather than separating buildings from nature, the concept allows them to exist in harmony. The experience is defined by openness, light, and a continuous dialogue with Boa Vista’s natural setting.

“Every residence at Tarafo Bay is designed to sit harmoniously within its surroundings” says Jon Hunt, Design Director of Tarafo Bay and Group Director, IDG Group. “By integrating native plants, trees, and natural habitats into gardens and outdoor spaces, we’ve created exterior environments that celebrate Boa Vista’s unique biodiversity. The goal is to ensure that the architecture feels like an extension of the landscape — where residents can enjoy the beauty of the island without ever feeling separated from it.”

Visuals Across Tarafo Bay

The latest renders showcase a variety of residences throughout the development, each reflecting the spirit of the island. Outdoor spaces are enriched with native planting schemes, incorporating local trees, flowering plants, and natural habitats. Gardens, courtyards, and shared areas are designed not only for aesthetics but also to support biodiversity and enhance the ecological character of the site. Each residence is positioned to feel connected to its surroundings, offering a balance of privacy and integration within the wider landscape of Tarafo Bay.

Innovation Meets Local Heritage

Tarafo Bay combines contemporary architectural design with the traditional character of Boa Vista. Clean modern lines are balanced with locally inspired forms, natural textures, and sustainable materials. This approach creates a development that feels grounded, timeless, and fully responsive to its environment. The intention is to respect the island’s heritage while introducing a refined, modern expression of coastal living.

A Collaborative Vision

The ongoing development of Tarafo Bay reflects close collaboration between architects, engineers, designers, and stakeholders. This shared process ensures that the project continues to evolve in a way that is both functional and considered, while maintaining a strong focus on sustainability and long-term value. The latest visuals highlight a cohesive vision where architecture, landscape, and community are carefully aligned.

Sean Clifton, Director, NATURA Architects (Resort Architect & Interior Designers) comments “With Tarafo Bay, we sought to create a design that celebrates the unique character of Boa Vista. By drawing inspiration from the island’s local architecture and natural landscapes, we’ve crafted spaces that seamlessly blend built structures with greenery, ocean views, and the warmth of natural materials like wood. The result is a development where sustainability and architecture coexist, inviting residents and visitors to experience both the beauty of the island and the elegance of contemporary design.”

Looking Ahead

As the project progresses, further refinement continues across all areas of design and planning. These latest updates represent an important stage in the journey, reinforcing the commitment to quality, innovation, and environmental sensitivity. We look forward to sharing further progress as Tarafo Bay continues to take shape.
