We will have the smallest impact on the environment as is practically possible, preserving and promoting the native flora and fauna of Boa Vista. The resort has been designed with careful consideration of the island’s ecosystems, ensuring that as much of the development as possible is constructed with sustainable materials and processes.
We will work closely with environmental experts and local conservation groups to protect and enhance the biodiversity of the area. Native plant species will be prioritised in landscaping, and effort will be made to preserve local wildlife habitats.
The resort will also support initiatives to monitor and protect endangered species, such as sea turtles, which are known to nest on the island’s beaches, including our own. By focussing on nature conservation, Tarafo Bay aims to set a benchmark for sustainable development in harmony with the environment.
Tarafo Bay is committed to leading the way on sustainability. The resort will generate all its own electricity through a photovoltaic farm, located on the edge of the development. This grid will provide a reliable and cost effective power source, with any surplus energy being available for the rest of the island. In addition, our water desalination plant will ensure a constant, sustainable supply of fresh water, with daily excess shared with the local community.
Our waste management system will be equally forward-thinking, designed to minimise waste and maximise recycling. Through innovative solutions, we will reduce our environmental impact while supporting a circular economy, contributing to the long-term sustainability of both the resort and the island.
Our buildings and landscape will be designed to maximise the use of on-island resources and skills wherever possible and reduce carbon sea miles for imported goods.
